Would you be interested in helping drive and make decisions for the cafe site and Discord?

Recently, some Drama went down, and a member left. While the Discord moderator’s hearts were in the right places, I’m not sure we handled things as well as we could have. I’d like to make a Community Advisory Board for the Cafe and how it’s run.

There will be two kinds of seats on the council – permanent and elected.

Elected seats will be just that. Any cafe member at Tadpole Rank 2 or above can run for a seat on the council. How many elected seats will be available is something we’re still debating. Part of it depends on how many people are interested.

A permanent seat will be available for anyone at Tadpole Rank 5 or above. You’ll need to request it – we don’t want to automatically “volunteer” anybody – but a seat is yours if you want it.

The Kermit Council will have its own private forum on the website and its own private Discord channel. It will serve both as source of ideas, as well as a board of appeals for any moderation actions. It will be run by a simple majority vote, one vote per system. In extra rare cases, T-E-C may veto things based on financial or legal considerations, just because we’re still ultimately responsible. But other than the veto, T-E-C will have one vote just like everyone else on the council.

Council membership will be public knowledge, so if you are interested in a permanent or elected seat, please leave a comment below.

Thanks.

  1. I would like to be able to run for it. We are not as active here as we are on discord, but we are trying to be more active here as well. – Cobra [Dragons of Therapy]

    1. Well, so far, you are running unopposed. I’d like at least a couple of elected representatives, so I think your chances of getting on the council are very high. Thank you so much for volunteering..

  2. Our system would definitely like to be a part of this council, if you will have us.

I don’t know what our wife/partner-system will decide for themselves on this matter. But no matter what, both systems are agreed that if we are a part of the council, we will abstain from situations where either ourselves or our partner-system is involved

    1. Oh, before we forget, and in the efforts of transparency, our system will also sit out of any situation that may arise involving the user who on this site goes by AyameKurenai, as they are a close friend of our system’s.

  3. After some thought and internal discussion, our system is going to abstain from joining the council. We might reconsider after the initial six-month period, but where we are in therapy right now it would be triggering, unfortunately. (Not because of this community: the community here has been amazing. It’s just a lot of really bizarre and specific childhood stuff that adds up into a giant nope.)

  4. Desi and I agree we would give a shot on this council if we qualify, but we might not be high enough tadpole rank? That’s okay if not, we just have a lot of free time on our hands more often than not and have experience moderating in Facebook groups and one other Discord server. c:

    1. You’re a level 2 tadpole, so you qualify. As I told Dragons, we want at least a couple of elected representatives. Right now you and Dragons would be running unopposed for your seats. I’ll make another Kermit Council post this weekend with timelines and stuff. Thank you!

      1. Awesome! As with Dragons, I’m likely to be much more active on Discord, but we’ll make a strong attempt to be active here as well. Desi and I (Jess) are personally going to work on blog posts to kind of discuss our experiences with our various diagnoses, in the hopes of helping anyone else that might have questions or struggles as well.

And I personally tend to be the more creative ideas person in our system, so I could make suggestions if y’all might like an event or something to happen. ^-^ Desi is more the organizer who makes things happen lol.
