How do you all feel about this? I know some people bristle a bit at this type of ‘tough love’ type stuff, but I feel like it’s important. This is under ‘for those in the life of people with a dissociative disorder – challenges to be aware of/prepare for’, before going into the sections.

As much as it’d be great to say ‘people with DID can…

Someone once yelled at me for saying that DID is incurable because they thought that I was saying that people with DID can’t live full and happy lives 😒 not only did they put words in my mouth, but it also felt frustrating to have someone who doesn’t have DID tell me (someone who actually has the disorder) that I can’t talk about our… Read more

I think it’s important to say that people with DID can have full, successful, and mostly happy lives… but that we have to go about that differently than non-disabled folk. Everyone has challenges in life; ours are just pretty big and complex. I think warning and talking about those complexities is a good thing.

I think it’s fair to say, and I pretty much concur with the comments from others.

From the wiki (Under FAQ on being an ally to DID/OSDD Systems): – I would love y’alls thoughts on this bc I think this is so important

I want to write about someone with DID in an informed, ethical way. How should I do that as someone who is not a system?

You’re not going to like this answer, but don’t, and here’s why:

What do you feel is missing from the wiki? (Other than obviously things that haven’t been filled in yet) – but what do you feel are sections that don’t exist yet that you’d like to see added?

What are some myths about DID you’d like us to bust on the wiki?

            • Level 5: Froglet

I’m not sure if these count but I’ve heard fears about there being evil alters like Jekyll/Hyde, and also DID vs possession.

On kind of a lighter note maybe an “Everybody with DID…” section for all of the “Everybody with DID communicates this way,” or “Everybody with DID presents this way” etc ones
