Multiple Personality Disorder. Eek!

No, I don’t have a murderous alter self. No, I don’t have any super powers. No, it’s not at all like it is in the movies or on TV.

On alternate Tuesdays I’m still convinced that I don’t have a dissociative disorder. Nevermind that I was diagnosed at 19 with DDNOS (Dissociative Disorder Not Otherwise Specified) in a mental hospital after a suicide attempt. Nevermind that shortly thereafter I was diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder by a separate psychiatrist and psychologist team I went to post-hospital. Nevermind that I was diagnosed AGAIN as having D.I.D. years later in a totally different city by yet another psychiatrist. My mind simply doesn’t want to accept the fact. And that’s part of the whole deal.

So what is D.I.D.? I have a hard time talking about it, so here’s a good start made by someone else.
