Something’s cooking down below.

Every so often, our body will do something interesting. Parts of it will jolt, shake, twitch, or freeze up at seemingly random times, involuntarily to whoever is in front. However, the fronter is capable of stopping it from happening if they so wish to. As a result, it really only happens when we are alone. That would be the masking, I suppose.

Some time this year, after having realised our multiplicity, I theorised that these movements are a below-surface alter’s way of expelling excess energy or even expressing their feelings if, in the moment, they are not near enough to be heard. Oftentimes these happenings will be in reaction to something the current fronter has just thought, said or done.

Because of this, I like to sit and let it happen when I can. Sometimes it will just be a brief jerk of the head, other times our entire arm might writhe around for a minute or two. I try to be patient while I wait for the alter to finish. It’s usually difficult to tell just who it is that is doing it, or even what they are trying to express. (Although I can usually tell when it is our resident persecutor, as she likes to scratch the skin or jam pencils into our leg. I do what I can to keep her in check for the sake of minimizing self-harm.)

Lately, these involuntary movements have become stronger and more frequent. For instance, small thoughts could invoke continuous head-jerking, or a sound may cause the whole body to freeze up for a number of seconds.

Our communication is not what you would call ideal. The only one I consistently speak with is our co-host, Schuster. Nonetheless, I think the reason for this swell of involuntary movement is due to something going on down below the surface. I think they are processing something larger than normal. What it is, I haven’t a clue, but I wish they would hurry up and process it already. They’ve been using up a lot of mental energy, and it’s all getting very inconvenient.
